A couple of thankyous

Repaired Sign

I meant to add a thankyou last week, to the guys that helped with the 100 hourly inspection on GZL.  Somehow I hit the “Publish” button too early.  We also need to thank Damien for fixing the foundations on one of the club’s safety signs quietly by himself.

Sunday seemed to be the day for taking photos of planes from underneath…

I don’t know why everyone stayed away

PW5 with sun haloSaturday was not a particularly good gliding day.  There was some high cirrus cloud overhead which kept the air temperature down a couple of degrees and nixed the thermals.  There was an unusually strong halo around the sun though…

Sunday was much better, with lots of lenticular clouds everywhere.  Nobody was able to get into the wave but we did get up to 9000′ easily in the thermals.  Damien Hamilton went the highest, furthest and longest that he has ever done.  Next time he just has to do it with the logger on board to get his Silver C badge.

Wal’s glider is becoming very easy to recognise by just its outline.  See if you can spot it when it appears on the website banner (once every 5 days.)
