This Sunday’s forecast on the Blipmap was showing reasonably high cloudbases. It also showed that the day would shut down early due to sea-breezes. So not a hugely promising day. But exceptionally high cloudbases were forecast out west. So it’s not a problem if the day shuts down early and you’re 120km from home if you’re at 12,000ft with a tail wind all the way home.
We didn’t see the forecast for wave though. There were lenticular clouds all over the sky like a fleet of invading flying saucers from Mars. Have a look at this one that’s beaming up an innocent cumulus cloud.

Here’s another one, pretending to be a cumulus…

Check out the results of the flight on the OLC link on the right-hand side of this page.

What do you think this is?
It is an image that every club member should recognise if it was not upside down. Here it is again, behind Damian’s back while he’s working on another component of the plane.

Yes, it’s the owl symbol from the side of a Puchacz! Thanks to Damian doing all the work, Morgan for signing the paperwork, Dieter, Lawrie and Vic for polishing and Wal and Mark for helping with the deflections; the Puchacz is now back in the air. I can’t help pointing out that (almost) all of those club members have their own aircraft and don’t need to waste any time keeping two Puchaczes airworthy when they only need one Puchacz to fly a check flight once a year.
The BBQ was really nice too.
